-[See]- Mochilla and Quantic Document the Search For New Sounds in ‘Cali to Barranquilla’ Gallery

Around the same time that the filming for the official Duvidó video went underway, photographic visionary and Mochilla founder Brian Cross (known to a certain few as B+) and dj/producer extraordinaire Will Holland (aka Quantic) set out on a survey of the Colombian landscape in hopes to meet some cumbiaeros, eat some pargo rojo, and excavate some of Colombia’s world famous vinyl record deposits.

In the gallery ‘Cali to Barranquilla‘, Cross applies his photojournalistic touch to capture musical discussions in action, Colombian day-to-day, and to highlight the alterations in the various vinyl collections featured. From the cavernous to the impromptu, each collection gives off a sense that it’s a direct reflection of it’s owner. It’s evident that Colombia’s proudly enthusiastic about it’s historic connection to the New York Salsa movement in the 70’s as well as it’s standing in the Cumbia and Porro worlds of sound, as well. In these photos, you can almost catch glimpses of Quantic himself, absorbing the minutiae of each cover jacket, while taking mental notes from local musicians’ personal recollections of each pressing.

Check the gallery below for some highlights of this journey. You can check the whole feature here on Mochilla’s site.
