California makes a cosmic connection on the new single entitled ‘Never Catch Me’ from FlyingLotus’s newest album ‘You’re Dead!’.

FlyLo co-opts the lyrical stylings of Kendrick Lamar to help weave through this moving and complex brand of free-jazz. Good Kid utilizes the track’s cool upbeats in a unique fashion, by elaborating vividly on his opinions of demise and worldliness. There’s a total sense of  conflicted bravado on display here, between the airy nature of FlyLo’s production and K Dot’s dark sentiment. The pairing of artists, accompanied by thrashing basslines from Thundercat allow the song to cast a wide emotional net.
